Speaker bio
Jack Burden
is a shareholder in the law firm of Backus, Carranza & Burden, and is a litigation attorney with practice emphasis in general liability, product liability, food liability, and commercial matters. His clients range from Fortune 200 companies to local business owners in Nevada. Mr. Burden is admitted to the State Bar of Nevada, U.S. District Court District of Nevada and the U.S. Supreme Court, and currently serves as an author of State Bar of Nevada Jury Instructions. He is also active in the State Bar of Nevada's Continuing Education Committee and the Canyon Springs High School Advisory Board. Mr. Burden earned his B.S. degree from the University of Nevada, Reno's Reynolds School of Journalism and his J.D. degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.

Ryan Byers
is a partner with Rammelkamp Bradney, P.C., in Jacksonville, Illinois. He concentrates his practice in civil litigation and school law. In his litigation practice, Mr. Byers advocates for both individuals and institutional clients in contract disputes, insurance defense and coverage cases, and construction disputes. In his school law practice, he represents school districts in a variety of matters, including construction issues, contract review, and administrative hearings. In addition to being licensed to practice in Illinois, Mr. Byers is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois and is a member of both the general and trial bars of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is presently a member of the Illinois Association of Trial Defense Counsel, Council of School Attorneys (COSA), the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the Morgan County and Illinois State bar associations. Mr. Byers earned his B.A. degree, with honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law.

Cari Sheehan
is an assistant general counsel with Taft Stettinius & Hollister, LLP with over 15 years of legal experience in civil litigation, conflicts of interest, and professional responsibility. In this role, she advises firm attorneys with respect to ethics compliance, risk prevention, and conflicts of interest. In addition, Ms. Sheehan assists in the review and negotiation of outside counsel guidelines, conflict waivers and engagement letters, and other items with ethical implications. She assists in providing ethical training and education within the firm to its attorneys and staff. Ms. Sheehan is an adjunct professor at the IU Robert H. McKinney School where she teaches professional responsibility. She is also a former assistant clinical professor of business law and ethics at the Kelley School of Business. Ms. Sheehan is passionate about promoting ethical awareness, integrity, and professionalism in the legal and business fields, and contributing to the advancement of knowledge and practice in these domains. She is a frequent presenter and author on ethics and professionalism in the legal industry. Ms. Sheehan is a recurring author with the Res Gestae, the Indiana State Bar Association's Member Journal, regarding the ethics curbstone; and has been quoted in publications for her knowledge on ethical topics. She is also an avid speaker, having given over 200 seminars on ethics and professionalism for various local and national platforms. Ms. Sheehan's primary area of research is regarding the ethics of AI and how it affects the legal and business community.

Steven Fried
is based in New York City. A graduate of Tufts University and the University of Tennessee College of Law, he has been practicing since 1996, consulting with and representing entrepreneurs and businesses. Mr. Fried's writings have been featured in various law reviews and other publications. He lectures extensively on legal and ethical issues facing attorneys and the public. In 2017, Mr. Fried founded OliverClarity Inc. and began developing OlyverApp, an online business management platform that helps entrepreneurs build compliant ventures and raise money. He is also a hockey player whose talents remain largely underappreciated.
