No. The Ohio State Bar Association Paralegal Certification program is an optional certification through the Ohio State Bar Association and is not required by the state of Ohio.

Ohio Bar Certified Paralegals

12.00 hours every 2 years, including 2.50 professional conduct hours.

Every 2 years based on the certification date

All credit hours may be taken as live or self study programs.

IPE programs meet the eligibility requirements of the Ohio State Bar Association Paralegal Certification program.

Paralegals are responsible for tracking and reporting their own credits on their biennial report that is filed with the Ohio State Bar Association Certification Board.

The biennial reports must be filed with the Certification Board, or the Association between November 1 and December 1 of every other year that a paralegal is certified and must be accompanied by fees as established by the fee schedule of the OSBA.

Certified Paralegals must apply for recertification in the calendar year preceding the expiration date of a paralegal’s certification.

2.50 hours of professional conduct every 2 years.

Legal Ethics
Professionalism
Alcoholism, substance abuse, or mental health issues, and/or
Access to Justice and fairness in the courts.

Yes. Ohio Bar Certified Paralegals are allowed credit for attorney CLE approved courses.
